Boys Tennis – NLC Tournament Opener The Plymouth Boys Tennis team traveled to Northridge Wednesday night for the opening round of the NLC Conference Tournament, facing a tough draw of one #1 seed and four #2 seeds. The Pilgrims fell 5–0, but showed encouraging growth compared to earlier regular-season matchups. • Singles: • 1S: Liam Hanyzewski (P) fell to the top-seeded Raider • 2S: Jonah Rich (P) improved on his earlier-season score in a competitive effort • 3S: Caleb Edmiston (P) battled through extended rallies against his seeded foe • Doubles: • 1D: Nick Manzuk / Owen Walleske (P) fought hard but fell in straight sets • 2D: Benson Prater / Landon Tyler (P) played the night’s most competitive match, pushing their opponents before falling Coach Haeck reflected, “Despite going winless in the first round, I thought we had a good night overall. We competed well, won more games than earlier matchups, and saw encouraging improvement across the board. The boys are continuing to focus on growth each night, and I’m excited to see what we can accomplish in the rest of the tournament.” The Pilgrims return to Northridge Thursday for Round 2, beginning at 4:00 p.m. ⸻ Girls Soccer – Pilgrims Blank Wawasee The Varsity Lady Pilgrims hit the road Tuesday night for an NLC matchup with Wawasee and came away with a 2–0 shutout victory. • Scoring: • Maia Danforth opened the scoring for Plymouth • Ella Young added the insurance goal to secure the result The win marked an important conference road result as the Lady Pilgrims continue to build momentum in league play. ⸻ JV Boys Soccer – Concord 3, Plymouth 0 The JV Rockies dropped a 3–0 decision on Wednesday night against a strong Concord squad. The Minutemen struck twice early to take control, but Plymouth regrouped in the second half, connecting more passes and creating several scoring opportunities. Goalkeeper Xavier Rouch had a standout night, recording 12 saves to keep the Pilgrims within reach. Despite the defeat, the second-half performance provided confidence for the team moving forward. ⸻ Varsity Boys Soccer – Concord 5, Plymouth 3 The Varsity Rockies went toe-to-toe with state-ranked Concord but ultimately fell 5–3 in a spirited NLC clash. • Scoring Summary: • Chris Rosas – 2 goals • Parker Hansen – 1 goal • Assists – Giancarlo Arriaga, Zeke Estrada The Pilgrims rallied to keep the game competitive, but the Minutemen’s firepower proved too much in the end. Coach praised the team’s resilience, highlighting Rosas’s continued strong freshman campaign and the group’s ability to create goals against elite competition.
