The Lady Pilgrims traveled to compete at the Goshen Relays on Saturday. The Distance Medley team of Bailey Edminston, Lauren Gurtner, Lola Hissong and Sophie Wray started things off with a nice 5th place finish as they went under their seed time. The Discus Relay team of Kylee Gaines, Elli Schaller and Ruby Bickel took fourth place on the day as each were close to season best tosses. Gaines, Schaller and Bickel also represented the team in the Shot Put and came in fourth place with another solid day to finish their day in the ring. The High Jump trio of Jersey Hunter, Joy Everett and Gurtner took second place on the day with a stellar day at the high jump venue. The Sprint Medley quartet of Yuli Contreras, Kathryn Morrison, Joy Everett and Amaya Ameling took third in Class A as they took off 2 seconds from their seed time. Next up, the 4x800m relay team of Rylee Laird, Kyleigh Kara, Ally Schadek and Hissong came in at the fifth spot with a good time. The Intermediate Sprint Medley team of Sonya Joseph, Alana Allen, Emma Erhart and Sophie Wray battled in an amazing race against FW Northrop as the race was close down the stretch and they finished in 2nd place narrowly missing medals. In another outstanding performance, the 4x400m relay team of Gurtner, Everett, Joseph and Ameling sliced off 3 seconds on the team’s season best time and also missed taking the first place medal in another phenomenal race against Munster. The shuttle hurdle relay team of Alexis Doll, Rilynn Ames, Joseph and Hunter took on FW Northrop (last year’s winners) in the fast heat. Doll, Ames and Joseph raced in the first three legs as Northrop built a hurdle plus lead. Hunter shot out of the blocks as Joseph crossed the go line and Hunter ran down the Northrop anchor leg and leaned at the line to win a photo finish comeback victory in a sub 16 second leg to earn the team a first place medal. Not to be outdone, the 4x200m relay team consisting of Erhart, Arielle Ferman, Hunter and Allen ran in a stellar field and battled in a tight finish against FW Northrop and SB Adams and finished in third place. Their time broke the school record that has stood since 2002 by 0.12 of a second. The team finished in third place in a very talented Class A field. Next up, they will travel to Warsaw on Tuesday to compete in the NLC Championship Meet. Field Events start at 5pm while the running events start at 6pm.
