Plymouth Boys Tennis Battles NorthWood The Plymouth Boys Tennis teams hosted NorthWood on September 9, facing off against one of the Northern Lakes Conference’s toughest lineups. Despite competitive efforts, the Pilgrims came up short in both Varsity and JV action. ⸻ Varsity Match – NorthWood 5, Plymouth 0 The Varsity Pilgrims dropped a 5-0 decision, moving to 2-7 overall (0-3 NLC). • 1S: Nolan Tompos (N) def. Liam Hanyzewski (P) 7-5, 5-7, 6-2 • 2S: Jack Johnson (N) def. Jonah Rich (P) 7-5, 6-0 • 3S: Aiden McEnderfer (N) def. Caleb Edmiston (P) 6-4, 6-4 • 1D: Eli Heckathorn/Ethan Tompos (N) def. Nick Manzuk/Owen Walleske (P) 7-5, 6-3 • 2D: Aiden Boggs/Cody Bryan (N) def. Benson Prater/Landon Tyler (P) 6-1, 6-2 The Pilgrims showed resilience at the top of the lineup. Hanyzewski pushed his match to three sets after splitting the first two, and both doubles teams played tight opening sets before falling in straight sets. ⸻ Junior Varsity Match – NorthWood 6, Plymouth 1 In the JV contest, the Panthers claimed a 6-1 win, dropping Plymouth to 2-7 overall (0-3 NLC). • Singles: • Landon McDonald (N) def. Breeding/Cain (P) 7-5 Mahoney earned Plymouth’s lone JV victory with a strong 8-2 performance at No. 4 singles, providing a highlight for the Pilgrims. ⸻ ✅ Takeaway: Though the score line favored NorthWood, the Pilgrims competed well in several matches, showing grit and progress. With continued growth, the team will look to turn close sets into match wins as NLC play continues.
