Cross Country – Rockies Compete at Manchester The Plymouth Cross Country teams turned in strong efforts at the Manchester Invitational. • Boys: Plymouth finished 8th out of 20 teams, edging out sectional rivals Huntington North and CMA. Freddy Kallenberg paced the Rockies with a 12th-place finish, while Ethan Podlesak crossed in 27th. On the JV side, Takoda Anderson (15th) and Will Ogilvie (19th) earned ribbons. Several Pilgrims posted personal records, including Ogilvie, Nolan Carroll, Henry Fort, Jaxon O’Connor, and Brooklyn Scruggs. Notably, O’Connor’s 19:12 eclipsed Coach Nordmann’s own freshman PR. • Girls: Despite missing lead runner Vivy Miller (sick), the Lady Pilgrims finished 11th out of 19, topping sectional rivals CGA, Manchester, and Northfield. Brooklyn Scruggs highlighted the meet with a PR that moved her up Plymouth’s All-Time Top 50 5K list from 47th to 41st. ⸻ Boys Tennis – JV Hosts Quad at Mary Beth Hunter Courts The JV Pilgrims hosted South Bend Washington, Eastern, and Bremen in a Saturday round robin, finishing 1-2 overall. • Win: Plymouth defeated Washington 3-0 behind strong performances from Logan Nelson and the doubles team of Carter Breeding and Cole Cain. • Losses: The Pilgrims fell to Eastern and Bremen in competitive matches, with Mahoney pushing his opponent to a deciding tiebreaker. The day brought valuable experience for the young squad, who now sit at 2-6 overall. ⸻ Football – Varsity Earns Thrilling Road Win The Plymouth Varsity Rockies secured a gritty 24-21 victory at Northridge on September 5, improving to 1-2 (1-0 NLC). • Highlights: Benjamin Shively contributed both through the air (129 yards, 1 TD) and on the ground (51 yards, 1 TD). Finnigan Holm carried the load with 31 rushing attempts for 118 yards and the go-ahead touchdown. Dominick Vasquez sealed the win with an 18-yard field goal. • Defense: Big efforts came from Brady Coffin (11 tackles), L. Cotton (8), and Grady Metsker (6). The JV team fell to Northridge 41-6 on September 6, with Osman Diaz providing the lone touchdown run. ⸻ Girls Soccer – Scoreless Draw with LaVille The Lady Pilgrims battled LaVille to a 0-0 draw on September 3. Plymouth dominated possession and created 31 total shots (19 on target), but LaVille’s goalkeeper delivered a standout performance, including a PK save. The Pilgrim defense limited LaVille to just one shot on goal. Defensively, Plymouth was led by Lila Hanyzewski (18 steals), Hayden Shipley (15), and Ella Young (12). ⸻ Boys Soccer – Late Equalizer Forces Tie with Hobart Plymouth earned a 1-1 draw at home against Hobart on September 8, moving to 4-2-3. Isaak Hutchinson scored off a feed from Josh Ramirez to give the Pilgrims the first-half lead. Despite controlling much of the match, Plymouth couldn’t extend the advantage and Hobart equalized late.
