JV Baseball - Pilgrims Lose To Slicers

Plymouth Junior Varsity Pilgrims watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 23-5 loss to La Porte Slicers JV on Saturday. La Porte Slicers JV scored on a double by Gage Raymond, a double by Chad Rusboldt, a single by Braxton Maxfield, and a groundout by Dawson Shreve in the first inning. The Plymouth Junior Varsity Pilgrims struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing La Porte Slicers JV, giving up 23 runs. La Porte Slicers JV opened up scoring in the first inning, when Raymond doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. Plymouth Junior Varsity Pilgrims scored four runs in the third inning. Plymouth Junior Varsity Pilgrims's offense in the inning came from a walk by Michael Gibbons, a single by Parker Wolfe, and a double by Cooper Grolich. La Porte Slicers JV scored eight runs in the second inning. Logan Hay, Maxfield, Shreve, Jack Travis, and Raymond all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. Joey Kirk toed the rubber for La Porte Slicers JV. The pitcher surrendered four runs on four hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out four. Grolich started the game for Plymouth Junior Varsity Pilgrims. The righthander went one and two-thirds innings, allowing 14 runs on ten hits and striking out two. Aiden Sauer and Braxton White entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two and a third innings and one inning respectively. Wolfe led Plymouth Junior Varsity Pilgrims with two hits in three at bats. Malachi Sieh led Plymouth Junior Varsity Pilgrims with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with eight stolen bases. La Porte Slicers JV tallied 15 hits on the day. Travis, Noah Banks, Shreve, and Hay each had multiple hits for La Porte Slicers JV. Travis went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead La Porte Slicers JV in hits.
