On Saturday, the Lady Pilgrims track team took a group to compete at the Penn Invite against a field that consisted of regional 1 and 2 teams. On the day, they finished in 6th place. The 4x800m relay team of Addie Kingston, Lola Hissong, Sophie Wray and Lauren Gurtner broke the 11 minute barrier in the event and finished in 5th place. First up in the individual running events, Jersey Hunter qualified for the 100m hurdle final by winning her heat, while Rilynn Ames ran and missed out on the finals. Jersey finished in 2nd place in a very solid field with a stellar time of 16.02! In the 100m dash, Kathryn Morrison and Yuli Contreras ran in the preliminaries with Morrison running a 13.71 for a new PR. Sophie Wray and Bailey Edmiston ran in a very good 1600m field, Sophie ran a season best time and finished in 7th place overall. In the open 400m race, two of our seniors Emma Erhart and Amaya Ameling ran in a very good field but did not finish on the podium. Next up was Sonya Joseph and Alexis Doll in the 300m hurdles. They ran and navigated the hurdle race in poor conditions. Lola ran her second 800m of the day and narrowly missed earning a PR. The 200m dash saw Alana Allen win her prelim heat and Arielle Ferman run and missed the finals in a very competitive field. Allen raced against her Valparaiso rival from the Sprinter's Showcase and came in 2nd on the day with a time of 26.97 in chilly weather. In our relays, the Varsity 4x400m relay team of Emma Erhart, Joy Everett, Sonya Joseph and Amaya Ameling took 5th place on the day while our Fr/So team of Gurtner, Bailey Edmiston, Rowynn Hall-Davis and Rylee Laird, finished fourth. Our Fr/So 4x100 team of Joseph, Hall-Davis, Contreras and Lila Hanyzewski broke 55 seconds and took third. In the High Jump, Hunter took 5th place with a leap of 4'10" and Everett tied for 9th place on the day. In a stellar Pole Vault field, Ferman took 7th place with a vault of 8'6". At the long jump pit, Hall-Davis and Kenzie Hindman competed in a solid field and missed out on the finals. In the shot put, Elli Schaller and Tessa Hutchinson battled blistery, frozen rain weather and did not make the finals in a talented field. At the discus venue, both throwers earned PRs on the day, Hutchinson missed the podium by finishing in 8th place. That leaves us the varsity 4x100m relay. The team of Hunter, Ferman, Morrison and Allen came into the meet with the 4th fastest seed time and faced Penn, Concord and Ft Wayne Wayne, the quartet passed the batons with focus and purpose and were the Penn Invite blue ribbon medalists with the second fastest time in school history at 50.93. Next up for the Lady Pilgrims track team, they travel to Mishawaka to take on the CaveWomen and the Wawasee Warriors in a tri-way NLC battle on Tuesday.
