The Plymouth Volleyball teams were back in action Tuesday night, August 19, as they squared off against a strong LaPorte program. Freshman Recap Lost in straight sets 16-25, 21-25 in their season opener. Will look to rebound when they face Tippy Valley at 5pm on Wednesday. Junior Varsity Recap The JV Pilgrims couldn’t quite find their rhythm, falling in straight sets (9-25, 16-25). Despite the loss, there were bright spots for Plymouth. Birkley Cooper and Trenity Ringer each recorded two kills, while Paige Frank provided energy at the net with two blocks. Claire Rosas added three assists to guide the offense. With the setback, the JV squad moves to 1-1 overall and will regroup at home on Wednesday, August 20, when they host Tippecanoe Valley. Varsity Recap In the Varsity contest, Plymouth came out energized and aggressive but couldn’t sustain momentum, dropping the match in three sets (17-25, 18-25, 15-25). Setter Olivia Ringer turned in an impressive all-around performance, recording 19 assists and 18 digs, while also leading the team’s communication on the floor. At the net, Sophia Stein and Jersey Hunter powered the attack with six kills apiece. Defensively, Hunter also anchored the back row, tallying 14 digs. Head Coach Koss reflected on the effort, acknowledging both the fight and the need for growth: “LaPorte is historically a tough team, they play clean volleyball. We came out firing tonight but got choked up at times with too many mistakes. The girls fought hard against a tough team and we fell short. We plan to learn from this and get better each day. With two more big matches this week, we need to hold our heads high and allow ourselves to learn from tonight!”
