It was a busy and productive week for Plymouth Baseball as all three levels—varsity, junior varsity, and freshman—took the field and made strong statements. From walk-off battles to run-rule routs, the Pilgrims showed growth, grit, and a glimpse of what’s to come this spring. The JV Pilgrims set the tone with an emphatic 15-5 victory over the Rochester Zebras at Bill Nixon Field, ending the game in just five innings. Christian Cruz-Mahler led the charge at the plate, going 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs, while Carter Jones added a 2-for-3 day with sharp contact. On the mound, Hueston Oliverez impressed in relief, tossing 2.1 innings, striking out five, and allowing just one earned run in a confident performance. The varsity squad battled the undefeated Rochester team in a tight contest but ultimately fell 5-4 in a game that came down to the final innings. Parker Wolfe continued his steady presence at the plate, going 2-for-4, while Nick Manzuk and Austin Price each added hits in a strong team effort that nearly handed Rochester its first loss of the year. But the varsity Pilgrims bounced back in a big way Wednesday night with a dominant 10-0 win over Northfield. It was a complete team effort from start to finish. The Pilgrims piled up 11 hits, played error-free defense, and executed in all phases. Senior Drew Feece led the offensive outburst with two extra-base hits and four RBIs, while Preston Wolfe, Ethan Hall, and Nick Manzuk delivered timely hits throughout the lineup. Brady Krumrie set the tone on the mound, going four innings, striking out three, and scattering just three hits without allowing a run. Manzuk closed the door in the fifth to complete the shutout. It was the kind of bounce-back win that sends a message—and shows just how much potential this group has. The Freshman Pilgrims also made headlines with their first win of the season, a 20-4 blowout of South Bend Career Academy in five innings. The bats were blazing from the start, as Bryce Ferguson went 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs, and Logan Nelson added a 2-for-3 night with 3 runs scored. Kaden Rooney joined the fun, going 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs. Ferguson was equally dominant on the mound, striking out 10 batters over five innings and allowing just one earned run in a standout performance. The future is bright across all levels for Pilgrim Baseball, and as the season picks up pace, these young athletes are proving they’re ready to compete with the best. Up next: The Freshman Pilgrims host South Central on Thursday at 5:30 PM, while the varsity and JV open up NLC play on Monday when they host the Mishawaka Cavemen starting at 5:30 pm at Bill Nixon Field and JV Field.
