Track & Field - Pilgrims Compete in Bethel HSR Qualifier

The track and field team had an impressive showing at the recent intrasquad meet, with athletes setting personal records (PRs) and earning top finishes in both track and field events. The competition provided an excellent early-season opportunity for both new and returning athletes to gain valuable experience. Hurdles Excellence The girls’ 60m hurdles event was a standout, with sophomore Eva Macey leading the way. She not only won the event with a finals time of 9.86 seconds but also ran under the 10-second barrier twice, solidifying her spot in the program’s all-time top 10. Alexis Doll delivered a fantastic performance, finishing third with a PR of 10.30 seconds. Freshman Nevaeh Arnold showed great promise, improving her time from prelims to finals and placing seventh. Speed on Display In the girls’ 60m dash, Yuli Contreras sprinted to a fourth-place finish with a PR of 8.51 seconds, matching her prelim time. Denisse White followed closely, finishing sixth with a PR of 8.55 seconds. Yuritzy Ramirez and Abbie Yeazel also competed hard in the prelims, gaining valuable race experience. On the boys’ side, Carter Bush ran an impressive 7.18 seconds in the finals, earning third place and a new indoor PR. Ethan O’Leary also set a PR in the prelims with a time of 7.53 seconds and secured sixth place in the finals. Jaden Yates ran consistently to finish fifth, while Kylen Ellery improved in the finals with a PR of 7.74 seconds, finishing seventh. Kaden Milliser and Gavin Bowen also showed solid efforts in the event. Field Event Standouts In the girls’ long jump, Arielle Ferman made an impressive indoor debut, placing third with a leap of 15’8”. Haileigh Olivarez also had a strong showing, setting an indoor PR of 13’2.25”. The boys’ long jump saw Kylen Ellery earn a third-place finish with a jump of 18’2.25”, while Jaden Yates secured fifth with a mark of 17’3”. Ellery also excelled in the high jump, clearing 5’8” to claim third place. Strength in the Shot Put The girls’ shot put event was a showcase of determination and growth. Ava Lloyd achieved a new PR with a throw of 32’1”, earning third place. Daisy Van Meter and Marissa Kmiatek also made their mark, finishing seventh and eighth, respectively. On the boys’ side, Kaden Milliser made his track and field debut, finishing 11th with a solid throw of 36’3”. Coach’s Perspective “We love taking our intrasquad up here to compete over two days,” said the coaching staff. “We saw so many great performances across the board. From Ava Lloyd’s personal best in shot put to Eva Macey breaking the 10-second barrier in the hurdles, it was a fantastic meet. Our athletes showed growth, determination, and resilience, and we’re excited to see how this momentum carries into the season.” Looking Ahead The team’s next contest will take place at home on April 3rd, 2025, where they will face off against Rochester and Caston. With strong performances already in the books, the athletes are eager to build on their success and continue pushing for excellence.
