Boys Soccer- Rockies Lose In Physical Game Against Northridge

By Brent Corbett | Oct 4, 2022 8:52 AM

The Rockies Boys soccer team took to Sectional action last night in Elkhart as they took on NLC rival Northridge in the 1st round. From the opening kickoff the officials were letting the boys play and be physical which would set the stage for a very contested match from start to finish. Northridge would find the back of the net last in the first half with 2:42 left the Raider offense scored on a header off a corner kick. The Rockies dominated the possession in the first half with 3 shots on goal but just couldn’t get the equalizer in the first half. Halfway through the second half Senior Abe Rebello found an opening and was fouled in the box forcing a penally kick for the Rockies. Senior Ivan Turcios would be chosen to kick and sneaked the ball right past the Raider goalie tying the game up 1-1. The momentum for the Rockies would be short lived though as the Raiders would score the game winning shot just 5 minutes later when the Raiders would get the ball past Goalie Koan Deon with 15 minutes left in the match. The Rockies would get 3 more shots on goal but the Raiders would pack the defense and shut down the opportunity to get the equalizing goal. The seniors on the team have achieved so much in their four years with having an undefeated regular season, being 7-0 NLC Champions and being Sectional Champions. For Coach Masson he has said that it was an absolute joy to coach this team and wishing nothing but the best for the seniors.
