The Pilgrims took on LaPorte in the opening game of the Plymouth Sectional #3 and what an exciting game it was with the game coming down to the bottom of the 7th with the Slicers getting a walk off win 6 to 5. Preston Wolfe went all 6 innings throwing 96 pitches and striking out 4 LaPorte Slicers in a very deep hitting team. Preston would also go 2 for 4 at the plate with an RBI. The Pilgrims would go back and forth with LaPorte all game long matching the Slicers in every aspect of the game. In the top of the 6th and trialing 2 to 1 Parker Wolfe sent a shot to left field and over the wall to give the Pilgrims a 3 to 2 lead entering the bottom of the 6th. Parker would go 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and a double to continue his great sophomore season for the Pilgrims. The Pilgrims though would see that lead go away quickly with the Slicers responding and getting 3 in the bottom taking the 5 to 3 lead heading to the 7th. The Pilgrims would not blink and would get some great at bats and were patient at the plate. With 2 outs and trailing by 1 runners on 3rd and 1st Freshman Ben Shively came to the plate with the season on the line. The Freshman with 2 strikes would send a soft liner over the LaPorte second baseman's head to tie the game. Ben would end his night at the plate going 2 for 4 with and RBI. LaPort would led the inning off with a drop 3rd strike to get a man on 1st. The next batter would miss a bunt attempt and Drake Feece would throw the Slicer runner out at 2nd base to give the momentum back to the Pilgrim side. Feece would go 1 for 3 with an RBI in his Freshman Sectional debut. The Slicers though would get a triple and with the Pilgrims infield in a chopped grounder up the middle would score the winning run. The Pilgrims would end the year 6 and 18 and did get to honor their Seniors of Caleb Bowling, Ryan Jolly and Tre Jordan after the game since they had their Senior Night rained out on Monday against Knox.
