The Plymouth track program traveled to Kokomo looking to set PRs and earn those elusive tickets to the state meet in Bloomington. In the field events, Joy Everett competed in a really balanced and talented field in the high jump. She cleared 4’ 10”, almost clearing 5’0” on her second attempt. Arielle Ferman cleared 9’0” in the pole vault and finished in 8th place and earned 1 point for the regional standings. Kicking off the running events, our 4x800m team of Lena Jones, Addie Kingston, Taylor Schadek and Lauren Gurtner finished in 14th, up two spots from their seed time. In the 100m hurdles prelim, Jersey Hunter was in her usual spot going into the sixth hurdle however her night ended on a clipped hurdle. Hunter was the 2x NLC Conference and Sectional 100m hurdle champion entering the meet. As the meet continued to move along faster than the sectional meet, the duo of Sophie Wray and Vivy Miller competed in one of the top assembled regional fields for the 1600m. Sophie Wray battled in the top 3 all race and took third to earn a ticket to Bloomington next week with a new school record of 5:04.57 with Miller taking 8th place. Freshman Eva Macey finished in 13th place in the 300m hurdles. In the 800m, Lena Jones raced in a top shelf field, as she earned a new lifetime PR as she finished in 14th. Finally, in the 3200m, Sophie and Vivy raced in their second race of the night as Sophie took 5th place and Vivy crossed the line in 10th place. On the night, Plymouth finished in a tie for 19th out of 35 scoring teams. Coach Quote: “During a warm day, our girls battled against the best in the NLC, NIC and Kokomo area teams. Blessed to see Sophie punch her ticket in the 1600m as she broke her own school record in the process. Vivy Miller and Arielle Ferman also scored for the Lady Pilgrims on the night. Proud of the way our girls battled tonight. #Proud to be the Big Red P!”
