Girls Track - Lady Pilgrims Get 2nd In Sectional

The Plymouth track program traveled to Bremen to battle for a sectional championship against defending champion Culver Academies, host Bremen and 8 other teams. The Lady Pilgrims on the night had the following earn sectional championships on the night: Sophie Wray was a three time sectional champion in the 800m, 1600m and 3200m races. Jersey Hunter brought home the 100m hurdle championship for the second straight year. Securing sectional runner-up finishes on the night were . Earning regional berths and key third place finishes were the 4x800m relay team of Lena Jones, Taylor Schadek, Addie Kingston and Lauren Gurtner, the 4x100m relay team of Kathryn Morrison, Ella Young, Jersey Hunter and Arielle Ferman, Eva Macey in the 300m hurdles, Arielle Ferman in the Pole Vault and Joy Everett in the high Jump. Coming in fourth place was Vivy Miller in the 1600m (new lifetime PR) and 3200m events, Daisy Van Meter with a new lifetime PR in the shot put, Jersey Hunter in the high jump. In the 800m run, Lena Jones secured a fifth place finish and Alexis Doll also took 5th in the 100m hurdle while the 4x400m relay squad of Taylor Schadek, Joy Everett, Eva Macey and Lauren Gurtner brought home key points in a fifth place finish. Finishing in sixth place on the night was Arielle Ferman in the long jump while Bella Walters took the same place in the pole vault. Earning valuable points in the 7th place position were Alexis Doll in the 300m hurdles, Marissa Kmiatek in the shot put, Laila Leisegang in the discus and Lauren Gurtner the 400m dash. Joy Everett took home 8th place in a stacked 400m dash field. The team finished as sectional runner-ups to Culver Academy by 6.5 points in a close race for the trophy. Plymouth was without the services of two of their top 7 scorers on the night. Great meet and performances from this eager and talented group. “What a great day for a track meet and the fans got to witness a beautiful display of outstanding performances against one of the four fields feeding into the regional next week. Sophie and Jersey garnered the title of Sectional Champion as Sophie scored a whopping 30 points on the night. Vivy amazed us with two fourth place finishes in stellar fields in the longer distance races. Eva broke the 50 second barrier again in the 300m hurdles while Daisy Van Meter launched her new PR in the shot put for us. WE have two relay squads that are moving on to compete next week at Kokomo as we hope to see Alana Allen return in the short relay. Our squad is looking forward to getting in a recovery session and rehab as we turn our plans to get ready for regionals at Kokomo next Tuesday. Vivy Miller and Lena Jones received a call back to earn tickets to the Regionals as of this writing. We are awaiting another in the high jump with Jersey Hunter upon completion of the St Joe field events on Wednesday."
