Football - Rockies Improve Play But Lose To Mishawaka 36-7

By Brent Corbett | Sep 17, 2022 3:40 PM

The Rockies took to the road and headed north to Mishawaka to take on the #2 5A Caveman in NLC action last night. The Rockies gave up the opening touchdown but would respond by taking almost 5 minutes off the clock and move the ball to the Cavemen side of the field when they had to punt that ball away. The Rockies defense would struggle early in the 1st quarter to figure out the Cavemen option game but would find their stride in the 2nd quarter. Going into halftime the Rockies would be down 29-0 and forced the Cavemen to turn the ball over on a punt return and made the Cavemen turn the ball over on downs. To start the second half the Rockies would find some rhythm and move the ball more on Mishawaka but would stop themselves on penalties. The Caveman would put a long run in the end zone to make the score 36-0 but the Rockies would respond and have a scoring drive themselves with a 7 yard pass from Exzander Ramiriez to Max Lewandowski. Leading the defense was Chris Johnson and Michael Sheely with multiple tackles behind the line of scrimmage. The Rockies are at home Friday for Homecoming when the #5 in 4A Northwood Panthers come to town. Kickoff is set for 7pm.
