The Pilgrims took the long road trip to Middlebury Monday night and lost two tough games with the JV losing 3 to 13 and Varsity getting the tough 2 to 4 loss. The JV Pilgrims came out strong in the first inning get a big inning with scoring 3 runs to start the game but just couldn't keep the momentum going. The Raiders would respond with scoring 2 in the bottom half and then two more in the second and never looked back from there. The Pilgrims pitchers threw strikes to keep the ball in play and the defense awake but the defense just couldn't get the third out creating Raider scoring opportunities. The Pilgrims were led at the at plate by Domanic Vasques going 1 for 2 with an RBI. Ben Shively would go 1 for 3 with a run scored to keep his Freshman year going into the right direction. Owen Walleske would go 0 for 2 with a walk and a run scored. The JV Pilgrims are now 5 and 5 overall and 3 and 4 in NLC play. The Varsity Pilgrims battled throughout the entire game but couldn't get over the 4 run Raider 2 inning to lose a heartbreaker 2 to 4. Preston Wolfe would pitch another gem for the Pilgrims going 6 innings giving up 7 hits on 2 earned runs and striking out 5 and not giving up a walk. The Pilgrims would give the 4 run 2nd inning to the Raiders but would respond in the 3 inning with getting two Pilgrim runs across and in the 6th inning had runners on 1st and 2nd with 0 outs but just couldn't get the big hit to get the Pilgrims across. The Pilgrims were led at the plate by Parker Wolfe going 2 for 3 with an RBI, Drake Feece making his Freshman debut on Varsity going 1 for 3 with a run scored, Senior Ryan Jolly went 1 for 3 with a run scored and a RBI. The Pilgrims are now 4 and 9 overall and 0 and 6 in a tough NLC this season. The Pilgrims look to rebound and get back on the winning side of things when they start the second round of the NLC round robin play when they host Mishawaka at Bill Nixon Field and the JV Field with first pitch set for 5:30 Pm.
