The Lady Pilgrims got a big NLC win over Wawasee Wednesday night to get their 6th straight win by a score of 9 to 8. The Lady Pilgrims got out of an early jam in the 1st inning with Warrior runners on 3rd and 2nd with 1 out when Kayla Johnson got the next two batters to strike out to get out of the top of the 1st without giving up a run. To start off the bottom of the 1st lead off hitter Haylee Busse got a pitched she liked and sent it over the left field wall to get the Lady Pilgrims going. A Liz Derifield walk and then a big double by Aubrey Ferguson got the Lady Pilgrims getting out of the 1st inning with a 2-0 lead. Kayla would get the Warriors down in order in the 2nd inning and thats when the Lady Pilgrim bats came alive to get 3 hits and get 4 Lady Pilgrims across home plate to extend the led heading to the 3rd inning. The Lady Warriors would get 2 runs across in the 3rd and then a big Warrior inning in the 5th would tie the game after a 3 run home run for the Lady Warriors. The Lady Pilgrims would answer right back with a Rylee Mann single and then Aubrey Ferguson coming up big again with the big hit sending the ball over the left field wall after a Warrior player would attempt to catch the ball and would fall out of the glove to give the Lady Pilgrims the lead again. An insurance run in the 6th would give the Lady Pilgrims all they would need with Wawasee getting 2 back in the 7th but Ferguson would come in and get the final 2 outs for the Lady Pilgrims to get the 9 to 8 win. This is the 6th win for the Lady Pilgrims in a row and have a huge matchup with the NorthWood Panthers on Thursday, April 25th after being moved from Friday to Thursday because of the forecasted weather on Friday. This will be a Varsity only game due to injuries on the JV team. Leading the way at the plate for the Lady Pilgrims were: Haylee Busse going 1 for 1 with 1 RBI, Elsaya Bohm going 2 for 4 with RBI, Rylee Mann going 2 for 4 with 1 RBI, Aubrey Ferguson going 2 for 3 with 3 RBI and Emma Krupp going 2 for 3 and a run scored. Kayla Johnson gets the win on the mound going 6.1 innings with 7 strikeouts while Ferguson gets the save going .2 innings and not allowing a hit.
