Baseball - Pilgrims Split With RedHawks

The Pilgrims hosted the Goshen Redhawks on Monday night and came away splitting the JV and Varsity game with the Pilgrims JV winning 15 to 7 and the Varsity getting a tough 2 to 4 loss. In the Jv contest the Pilgrims were led by pitcher Grady Metsker throwing for 5 innings allowing 5 earned runs and striking out 6 Redhawk batters. Zach Atkins would come in the last two innings and get 2 strikeouts and allowing 0 earned runs. Ben Shivley went 3 for 5 at the plate scoring 2 runs and getting 2 rbi. Drake Feece went 2 for 3 scoring 4 runs and getting 4 rbi for the Pilgrims. Landon Tyler would also get 3 rbi going 1 for 3 at the plate. The JV Pilgrims are now 4 and 3 overall and 2 and 2 in NLC play. For the Varsity Pilgrims it was the case what if for the Pilgrims has they would lose a heartbreaker 2 to 4 in a ball game that saw 12 Pilgrims left on base throughout the game. Preston Wolfe would get the lose throwing all 7 innings and getting 10 strikeouts keeping the Pilgrims in the game after the 1st inning when he would walk the first batter then Cline for Goshen would get a homerun to take the early Goshen lead. The Pilgrims were led at the plate by Caleb Bowling going 2 for 3 and scoring a run and Parker Wolfe going 2 for 4. Evan Giese who didn't start but came into the game went 2 for 3 on the night. The Pilgrims look to get back on the winning side when they travel to Wawasee on Wednesday night starting at 5:30 PM and then back at Bill Nixon Field on Thursday when they host Logansport and NorthWood on Friday.
