As a team, the Pilgrims finished with 20 points, good enough for a 4th Place finish. The Pilgrims finished behind the #1 team in the state, Lafayette Harrison (53 points), #20 Culver Academy (36 points), and Covington (22 points). 2S Martin Baca and 3S Jake Stone both lost their first two matches of the day, but won their final round match to finish in seventh place. 1D Matt Manzuk-Easton Strain lost their first match of the day to the eventual champions from Lafayette Harrison, but regrouped to win their next two matches in the backdraw to finish 2-1 on the day and in fifth place. Senior 1S player Carter Snyder played quality tennis today, as he battled through three tough matches to finish 2-1 and in third place. He beat both Logansport (first round) and Lafayette Jeff (third round) in straight sets, coming from behind in three of those four sets to pull out those wins. He lost to an All-State caliber player from Culver Academy in the semi-final round, but battled throughout that match as well. Plymouth’s highest placing of the day came at 2D, where Caleb Bowling-Trey Delp won their first two rounds (McCutcheon and Covington) in straight sets, before falling to a strong Culver Academy 2D team 6-3, 6-4 in the finals. After falling behind 3-0 to start the final match, Caleb and Trey battled their opponents very competitively and played some of their best tennis of the year. Plymouth Varsity (and part of the JV) will travel to Mishawaka Tuesday 9/13/22 for a 5:00PM start against the Cavemen at Baker Park, while the rest of the JV will host the Triton Varsity on Tuesday 9/13/22 at 4:30PM. Go Big Red!
