Tennis - Lady Pilgrims Get Win Over Valparaiso

Plymouth hosted district-ranked Valparaiso on Monday night at the Mary Beth Hunter Tennis Complex and after playing deep into the night the Lady Pilgrims came out with a wonderful 4-1 victory. 2 singles Tynley Gantz and 3 singles Izzie Wray won their matches in straight sets to put the Pilgrims up early 2-0. 1 Doubles of Emma Jackson and Cassidy Riddle took the first set, but ultimately fell in three sets. After 3 hours of play the 2 doubles team of Lena Houin and Alivia Kizer battling in a close third set and 1 singles Annie Plothow having just split sets. Lena and Alivia pulled out their final set 6-4 to secure the third team point and victory, with Annie still playing in their set. After nearly 4 hours of play, Annie pulled out the final three games to take her third set 7-5 to finish off with the 4-1 win for the Lady Pilgrims. The Jv Lady Pilgrims would end in a 5-5 tie with Valparaiso. The young Lady Pilgrims had great performances led by Sophia Cantero at 1 singles, Addie Hundt battled back from a first set loss to win her match as well. The top three doubles teams of Cloe Byrd, Jo Houin, Meredith Borden, Marisa Langfeldt, Randi Gibbons, and MJ Himes all earned great victories. The Lady Pilgrims will host Chesterton on Wednesday, April 10th starting around 6 PM at the Mary Beth Hunter Tennis Complex.
