Track - Pilgrims and Lady Pilgrims Get Opening Win Over Rochester

The Pilgrims and Lady Pilgrims hosted the Rochester Zebras to open the outdoor season and Plymouth came out with two great wins with the boys defeating the Zebras 78 to 53 and the Lady Pilgrims winning 113 to 19. The Pilgrims would get the swept in the 100,200, 400 and won all three relays to get the win over the Zebras. Carter Bush won the 100m and the 200m. Coby Walters won the 400m and the Pole Vault. Freddy Kallenberg opened his season with winning the 3200m while Kylen Ellery won the high jump in his track season debut. Jaden Yates after a great indoor season won the long jump. For Coach Nordmann it was a great way to start the season and was very happy with how hard the boys competed. For the Lady Pilgrims it was a dominating win with Principal Jake Singleton supporting a fellow teacher and coach Haley Stegelmann and dong the Step for Stegs ALS Ice Bucket challenge with fellow coaches Curtins Nordmann and Rick Stiles. The Lady Pilgrims then showed their depth and talent in all events and channeled any nerves and anxiousness to quickly focus on the task at hand by going out and attaining solid efforts throughout the night. Triple event winners for the Lady Pilgrims were Alana Allen winning the 100m, 200m, and the 4x100m. Arielle Ferman won the long jump with a new PR, Pole vault with another PR, and the 4x100m. Jersey Hunter after her indoor State appearance won the 100m hurdles, high jump and the 4x100m. Taylor Schadek won the 4x800m, 400m, and the 4x400m. Double event winners for the Lady Pilgrims were Lauren Gurtner in the 4x800m, 4x400m. Lena Jones won the 800m with a new personal record and the 4x400m, while teammate Sophie Wray won the 4x800m and 1600m. Single event winners on the night were Amyra Benchaar in the 300m hurdles and got a new PR, Danica Davids won the discus and got a new PR, Joy Everett won the 4x400m while Lola Hissong won 4x800m and Marissa Kmiatek won the shot put while Vivy Miller won the 3200m and Kathryn Morrison won the 4x100m. Coach Stiles said the entire coaching staff was very proud of the way the Lady Pilgrims performed and the way the team competed. The Pilgrims and Lady Pilgrims will be back in action Friday night when they host the LaVille Lancers and Triton Trojans for Senior Night with honoring the Seniors starting at 5 PM.
