The Lady Pilgrims opened the 2023-24 season campaign hosting the #10 in 3A South Bend Riley Wildcats. The Lady Pilgrims are coming off a 10 win season last year and have high expectations for themselves. Riley coming in already playing 3 games was coming in and was looking to continue their momentum. The Wildcats would get on the board early and a couple costly errors in the second inning was enough for the Wildcats to win 8 to 1. Elsays Bohm got the lone run for the Pilgrims going deep in the 7th inning to get her first homerun of the season. After striking out 15 times last year against the same pitcher the Lady Pilgrims would put the ball in play and put pressure on the Wildcat defense all night. Coach Johnson loved the battle and fight in the team and is excited to see what things will come during the season. The Lady Pilgrims will host Peru Lady Tigers on Wednesday in a Varsity only contest with first pitch starting at 5:30 and then hit the road on Thursday when they travel to Rochester for a Varsity/JV double header with the JV playing 3 innings after the varsity game. Getting hits for the Lady Pilgrims in the game were Elsays Bohm, Gracie Patrick in her first Varsity game, and Liz Derifield.
