Gymnastics - Lady Pilgrims Get Tough Loss But Jersey Hunter Breaks School Records

The Lady Pilgrims looked to close out the regular season at Angola to get the last things set before Sectionals on Saturday. The Lady Pilgrims fought hard but just came up short against a very tough and talented Hornets team losing 101.425 to 108.05. The Lady Pilgrims would get 3 finishing in the top 6 of the all around with Jersey Hunter finishing 3rd scoring 35.175, Arielle Ferman getting 5th scoring 32.450 and Lila Hanyzewski 6th scoring 32.075. On the Floor exercise the Lady Pilgrims only got 1 to place with Jersey Hunter scoring a 9.3 which placed her 3rd. In the beam exercise Jersey got 2nd scoring 9.00 and breaking a school record for least amount of falls on the beam with only 9. Lila Hanyzewski would place 3rd scoring a 8.55 while Sophia D'Alonzo would get 5th scoring 7.975 and Areille Ferman getting 6th scoring a 7.7. Jersey would place 6th in the bars scoring a 7.375 while Angola took the other top 5 spots. In the vault, Arielle Ferman would place 5th scoring 9.05 while teammate Jersey Hunter would get 1st scoring a new school record 9.5. The Lady Pilgrims close out the regular season 12-2 and will now prepare to get ready for the Lakeland Sectional for Saturday, February 24th. Gates will open for the public at 10 Am and competition will start at 11 am. The cost for the Sectional is $7, other teams that are competing are West Noble/Wawasee, East Noble, Angola, Dekalb, Peru, Lakeland, Warsaw and Elkhart. The Lady Pilgrims finished 3rd last year in the Sectional and look to win this year.
