Girls Swimming - Lady Pilgrims Set New Program Scoring Point Total At Sectional

The Lady Pilgrims competed Saturday in the Warsaw Sectional and came out with a 3rd place finish behind Warsaw and Culver Academy. The Lady Pilgrims though would score a program record 309 Sectional Points beating the previous record of 305 set in 2022. This was capable because of the great depth the Lady Pilgrims had with having 26 out of 30 qualify for the Championship events. The team swam as a team 32 best times with each swimmer having at least 1 best time in their events. Individual point leaders for the Lady Pilgrims were Vivian Wheeler scoring 31 points, Kieran Gritton with 26 points, Claire Lewandowski with 25 points, and Taylor Schadek with 25 points. Individual ribbons winners were: Vivian Wheeler got 2nd in the 100 breaststroke and 5th in the 100 free. Kieran Gritton got 6th in the 50 free and 7th in the 100 free, Claire Lewandowski got 5th in the 200 free and 8th in the 500 free. Kathryn Morrison was 7th in the 100 fly while Taylor Schadek got 8th in the 200 IM and 5th in the 100 back. Marisa Langfeldt got 7th in the 100 back and Lauren Kopetski was 8th in the 200 free. Madi Hauptmann finished 5th in diving just missing top 4 by 1 point while Desi Esquivel got 6th in diving. In the Consolation races Emma Jackson same a best time and finished 11th in the 200 free. In the 200 IM Marisa Langfeldt was 10th with a best time while Meredith Borden finished 11th with a best time. For the 50 free Rowynn Hall-Davis finished 13th with a best time while in the 100 fly Lauren Kopetski got 11th with best time while Emma Jackson finished 15th. Silvia Wheeler got 16th and best time in the 100 free while in the 500 free Meredith Borden got 13th with her best time and Katelyn Golba got 16th with her best time. For the 100 breaststroke Kathryn Morrison got 9th and her best time. The Medley relay got 3rd with team members being Taylor Schadek, Vivian Wheeler,Kathryn Morrison, and Kieran Gritton. The 200 free relay got 4th place with Gritton, Lauren Kopetski, Hall-Davis, Lewandowski while the 400 relay got 3rd with Lewandowski, Kopetski, Morrison and V. Wheeler. It was a great season for the Lady Pilgrims with dropping a ton of time in the Sectional when it mattered. The coaches would like to thank the 5 seniors Kieran Gritton, Desi Esquivel, Madi Hauptmann, Lena Houin, and Leni Sailer for their hard work and dedication to the program as they wrapped up the PHS careers. Next up other than the boys season as they wrap up their regular season this week is that they will be planning on having a Middle School program for grades 6-8th.
