The Lady Pilgrims closed out their regular season with the Argos Dragons on Saturday and came back with a split in wins. The JV Pilgrims stayed ahead of the Dragons the entire game by playing tough defense and challenging every shot the Dragons took. The Lady Pilgrims would have to hold off a Argos comeback in the 4th quarter but two free throws from Lilly Runyan would seal the deal for the JV Pilgrims in the victory winning 23 to 22. Leading the way for the JV Lady Pilgrims were Taylor Hauptmann scoring 5 points, Peyton Ellinger scoring 10 points & 4 rebounds, and Bailey Edmiston with 5 points and 4 rebounds. The Varsity Lady Pilgrims had to take on a talented Dragon team that holds the #1 scorer in the State in points per game. In the first half it was a great back and forth game with the Lady Pilgrims taking the lead at halftime 22 to 21. In the 3rd quarter the Lady Pilgrims found things on offense and took a 6 point led into the 4th quarter. The Dragons in the 4th quarter though would find their offensive rhythm and would make the comeback and defeated the Lady Pilgrims 45 to 41. The Lady Pilgrims would only shoot 30% from the field and 14% from behind the arc. The Lady Pilgrims were led by Tynley Gantz scoring 16 points and grabbing 6 rebounds, Rylee Mann had 7 points and 7 rebounds while Lena Jones had 4 assists and 7 rebounds. The Lady Pilgrims finish the regular season 10 and 12 overall and 3-4 in the NLC. The Lady Pilgrims will play the Mishawaka Lady Cavemen in the second game of the Sectional at South Bend Washington Wednesday, January 31st at 8 PM.
