The Lady Pilgrims hosted the Culver Academy Eagles on Tuesday night for the last home game and Senior Night for the Lady Pilgrims. The Pilgrims honored Senior Rylee Mann and two foreign exchange students Leila Leiselang and Naroa Eciolaza. In the Jv game the Pilgrims came out with a quick led but the Eagles fought back and took a 8-7 lead going into the second quarter. The Pilgrims would struggle to find the net and would only score 2 points to take a halftime deficit 9 to 16. The Eagle defense would just be too much for the Pilgrims forcing turnovers that gave the Eagles more offensive chances. The offense was led by Leila Leiselang scoring 6 points and 6 rebounds. Peyton Ellinger had 4 points and 4 rebounds while Eva Sheedy had 4 points and 5 rebounds. The JV Lady Pilgrims are now 7-12 overall. The Varsity Lady Pilgrims put on a show for the crowd, forcing 2 overtimes with the visiting Eagles after last years matchup also went into overtime for the two teams that are separated by 11 miles. The Lady Pilgrims controlled the first half making CMA take tough shots and getting transition buckets. The tides had turned when the Lady Pilgrims rushed a shot at the end of the half allowing the Lady Eagles to get a last second shot off before half and making the bucket and taking a 19 to 18 led going into the half. The Lady Pilgrims though would weather the storm and force overtime and even had a chance to win the game in regulation but were unable to get a shot off. The Lady Pilgrims though would just not find the bottom of the net in the later moments of the 2nd overtime losing the game 47 to 49. The Lady Pilgrims effort was never in question but struggled at the free throw line going 12 of 22 on the night. Leading the Lady Pilgrims was Lena Jones scoring 8 points, 4 assists, and 6 rebounds. Sophie Miller added in 12 points and 4 rebounds, Tynley Gantz had 7 rebounds, Rylee Mann scored 12 points and 8 rebounds while Alana Allen had 13 points and 8 rebounds. The Lady Pilgrims will travel to Northridge on Thursday night to take on a very talented Raider offense. The JV will tip off at 6:15 PM and the Raiders play their home games at the Middle school and not the high school.
