Girls Basketball - Lady Pilgrims Get NLC Loss To Concord

The Lady Pilgrims traveled to Concord Thursday night to make up past Saturday's game due to the winter storm. The JV Lady Pilgrims got things started off in historic McCuen Gym and fought hard in the 1st quarter only trailing the Lady Minutemen by 1 point. In the 2nd quarter though the Lady Pilgrims just couldn't find the bottom of the net but that didn't stop them from playing tough Pilgrim defense only trailing at half by 3. The second half was a total different story for the Lady Pilgrims has turnovers would end up costing the Lady Pilgrims. The Pilgrims had 23 total turnovers that led to transition points for Concord. The Pilgrims would lose the game 21 to 32. Plymouth was led by #42 Peyton Ellinger who continues to have a solid Freshman season scoring 12 points and getting 8 rebounds. Also, leading the Pilgrims was #11 Leila Lieselang who led Plymouth with 7 rebounds. The JV Pilgrims are now 7-10 and 2-3 in NLC play for the season. The Varsity Lady Pilgrims came off a January 9th win and was looking to continue that momentum heading into the final stretch of the season before Sectionals. Concord would come out and shoot lights out from the field building a 19 point lead on the Lady Pilgrims. Concord shot 55% from the field and 47% from the 3 point line while the Lady Pilgrims struggled to get shots to fall going into halftime down 30 to 16. The Lady Pilgrims in the second half would fight back and get the Concord lead down to 6 in the 4th quarter but just couldn't overcome the 1st half shooting struggles losing 49 to 59. #5 Lena Jones led the team in scoring with 24 points and getting 5 rebounds, while #10 Sophie Miller had 7 points, 4 assists, and 4 rebounds. Senior #30 Rylee Mann had 10 points and 4 rebounds. The Lady Pilgrims look to bounce back when they travel to the Hardwood TeePee of Wawasee on Saturday, January 20th with the JV starting things off at 6:15 PM.
