Due to the forecasted snow storm for Friday evening the Pilgrims hosted all three levels of basketball against NLC foe Concord. The Freshman got to play in the Auxiliary gym and had a great first quarter only trailing by 1 point 8 to 9. The Pilgrims though would struggle in the 2nd quarter with having turnovers and not being able to get shots to fall. The Pilgrims would trail at the half 10 to 22. The Pilgrims would make some halftime adjustments and would trail the Minutemen by 9 heading into the final frame. The Pilgrims would end up on the short end of the stick losing 30 to 37. Leading the way for the Freshman Pilgrims were Davis Jones scoring 12 points, Bryce Busse with 6 points, and Landon Tyler with 6 points. The Pilgrims now wait to see weather permitting if they will be able to host their tournament at home with Rochester, Tippy Valley and New Prairie starting at 9 am. The Jv Pilgrims were looking to build off their tough come from behind victory over Tippy Valley but just couldn't find a rhythm on offense and 19 turnovers were just too much to overcome. The Pilgrims would only shoot 20% from the field and getting outscored in the second half 30 to 11 causing the final score to be 32 to 57. Leading the Pilgrims were Parker Wolfe scoring 9 points with 3 rebounds, Kylen Ellery scored 8 points with 4 rebounds, Ben Nguyen scored 7 points and Parker Bagley finished out scoring with 5 points. The Pilgrims are now 9 and 3 and 0-3 in the NLC. The Varsity Pilgrims had a slow start to the game and the Pilgrims then had to scratch and claw their way to making it a two possession game with 4 minutes left but just ran out of steam and lost 42 to 51. The Pilgrims struggled in the 1st quarter to find the bottom of the net and struggled all night at the free throw line shooting 7 of 14. The Pilgrims would out rebound the Minutemen by 3 but would lose the turnover battle 11 to 4. Leading scorers for the Pilgrims were Coby Walters scoring 12 points, Preston Wolfe with 11 points, and Kayden Ellery 7 points. The Varsity Pilgrims are now 5 and 7 and 0-3 in the NLC. The JV & Varsity Pilgrims are now waiting for the weather to see if they will travel to Elkhart and historic North Side Gym Saturday night with JV tip set for 6:15 PM.
