Girls Basketball - Lady Pilgrims Defeat Slicers On Big Sis Lil Sis Night

The Lady Pilgrims honored their Big Sis Lil Sis program last night with over 90 future Pilgrims in the stands the Lady Pilgrims put on a show defeating the visiting Slicers last night in both JV and Varsity games. The JV would get things started off with a slow start after having this be the first day back from Christmas break and a full day of school. The Lady Pilgrims showed great intensity on the defensive end causing turnovers and getting transition buckets. Many of the offensive opportunities began with a steal from the defensive side. The Lady Pilgrims forced 19 steals in the game and controlled the glass with getting 28 team rebounds. The JV Pilgrims were led by Freshman Peyton Ellinger scoring 12 points getting 4 rebounds and 4 steals. Taylor Hauptmann had 8 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals while Olivia Warner had 8 points and 6 rebounds. The win improves the JV to 7-9 overall and 2-2 in the NLC. The Varsity Lady Pilgrims continued their great team play from Saturday and got a big win over a scrappy LaPorte team 61 to 35. The Lady Pilgrims used a 21-3 second quarter to pull away from the Slicers and allowed all players to get into the game. Lena Jones led the Lady Pilgrims with a triple double last night getting 10 points, 11 assists and 15 rebounds. With her 11 assists Lean holds a share in the record books with most assists per game with 11. Mady Sullivan came off the bench to bring a spark to the Lady Pilgrim offense and scored 8 points, Sophie Miller chipped in 15 points. Rylee Mann scored 13 points and got 5 rebounds while Alana Allen had 5 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals. The Lady Pilgrims are now 9 and 8 overall and 2-2 in the NLC. Weather permitting the Lady Pilgrims will travel to Concord on Saturday, January 13th with a JV start time for 12 PM.
