Boys Basketball - Pilgrims Play Triple Header Against Career Academy

The Pilgrims hosted the South Bend Career Academy Trailblazers for an exciting home opener will all three levels playing in The Rock in one day. To start the day off was the Freshman with this being their first game of the season it was exciting to see what they could do. The Pilgrims would come out and take a 9-7 lead going into the second quarter but a deep and talented Trailblazer team pressure the young Pilgrims and sped up the game. The Pilgrims would keep fighting defensively with getting deflections and steals but it was just not their day with shooting. The Freshman would end up losing 28 to 43. Leading the young Pilgrims were Davis Jones scoring 9 points and 5 rebounds, Hudson Davis 5 points and 6 rebounds, Austin Wagoner 4 points and 2 steals, and Landon Tyler with 4 points. The Freshman Pilgrims will be back in action Monday, November 27th when they travel to Mishawaka Marian with tip off set for 6:30 PM. The JV Pilgrims coming off their season opener over Glenn and continued to shoot well and play great team defense by defeating the Trailblazers 30 to 19. Kylen Ellery continues to improve and help the Pilgrims with leading the Pilgrims with 9 points and 5 rebounds. Hayden Feldman coming off injury got to play his first game of the year and scored 5 points and got 6 rebounds while Parker Bagley and Parker Wolfe continue to help with scoring 4 points each and getting 7 rebounds for Bagley and 4 rebounds for Wolfe. Grady Metsker came off the bench and played great minutes defensively and getting 4 big rebounds late in the game. 8 out of the 9 Pilgrims players were able to score but all played a big team role in getting the first home win of the season. The Varsity Pilgrims defeated the Trailblazers 80 to 50 with this being the highest point total for the Pilgrims since 2014. Coby Walters who came off the bench against Glenn was in the starting role and came out leading the Pilgrims with 18 points. Kadyn Ellery continues his scoring ways getting 16 points for the Pilgrims holding down the center of the paint for the Pilgrims. Preston Wolfe helped spread the Trailblazer defense out hitting three 3 pointers and getting 13 total points. 9 players for the Pilgrims were able to get on the board. The Pilgrims had 28 total rebounds and 18 assists to help the Pilgrims outscore the Trailblazers in every quarter. The win moves the Pilgrims to 2-0 on the season and is back to back seasons the Pilgrims started the season 2-0. The last time the Pilgrims started 3-0 was in 2018, the Pilgrims travel to LaPorte on Thursday when the JV tips off at 6 PM.
