The JV Lady Pilgrims got things started off on the right foot with getting a tough 24-23 win over Mishawaka Marian. Battling a tough full court press the whole game the Lady Pilgrim guards handled the pressure and did an amazing job of controlling the tempo of the game and helped with getting deflections and steals on the defensive side of things. Leading the Lady Pilgrims were Sophia Polando with 9 points, Peyton Ellinger with 6 points & 10 rebounds, and Taylor Hauptmann with 4 points & 3 steals. Taylor hit the game winning free throw to give the Pilgrims the lead with 13 seconds in the game. The Varsity Lady Pilgrims fed off the energy and hard play from the JV and defeated the Mishawaka Marian Knights in a big win with the score ending up being 56-14. The Lady Pilgrims played very tough defense and finally got the monkey off their backs with defeating the Knights. Alana Allen lead all scores with 13 points while Lena Jones and Tynley Gantz each chipped in 11 points a piece. The Lady Pilgrims shot 40% from the field and 74% from the free throw line. The win moves the Lady Pilgrims to 1-1 with their next game being Saturday at Michigan City.
