Another busy week of Plymouth High School Athletics featured championship-level performances, conference competition, milestone victories, and strong individual efforts across the fall sports season. From the football field to the soccer pitch, volleyball court, tennis courts, golf course, and cross country course, Plymouth student-athletes continued to represent Big Red with toughness and determination. Football The Varsity Rockies battled NorthWood in an NLC matchup at the RockPile, falling 31-24. Plymouth found itself down 24-10 at halftime before responding with a much stronger second half. Quarterback Ryder Goodman led the offense, rushing 25 times for 175 yards and two touchdowns while completing 8-of-10 passes for 85 yards and another score. McKoy Gantz caught a 56-yard touchdown pass, while Brody Lebo led a busy defensive effort with three solo tackles and 10 assists. The C-Team Rockies continued their outstanding start with a 20-12 victory over NorthWood, improving to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the NLC. Clay Lawson accounted for a rushing and passing touchdown, Lyriq Downs caught a touchdown, and Alexander Robbins added a rushing score. Volleyball Plymouth Varsity Volleyball had a full week of competition, beginning with a 1-2 showing at the Concord Tournament. The Lady Rockies defeated New Prairie in three sets while dropping competitive matches to Elkhart Christian Academy and Fairfield. Against Bremen, Plymouth battled through four sets, including a dramatic 26-24 fourth set. Sophia Stein recorded 19 kills, Cordelia Cofer added 12, Kristin Manges finished with 19 assists and 21 digs, and Claire Rosas collected 17 digs. The Lady Rockies also battled Warsaw in NLC play. Plymouth won the opening set 25-16 and the third 25-21 before Warsaw ultimately took the match. The JV Lady Rockies continued an excellent season. Plymouth swept Bremen 25-7, 25-11, with Bailey Trump earning Player of the Game honors. The JV squad finished the week at 12-4 overall and 3-1 in conference play after its matchup with Warsaw. Boys Soccer It was a big week offensively for the Plymouth Boys Soccer program. The Varsity Rockies rolled to a 7-0 victory over New Prairie, receiving two goals from Zeke Estrada and one apiece from Isaak Hutchinson, Chris Rosas, Giancarlo Arriaga, Enil Figueroa and Klynt Verhaeghe. Plymouth followed that performance with an impressive 9-0 NLC victory over Mishawaka. Hutchinson, Chris Rosas and Arriaga each scored twice, while Gustavo Rosas, Owen Ryan and Xavier Ross added goals. The victory improved Plymouth to 5-5 overall and 1-2 in the NLC. The JV Rockies also picked up a convincing victory, defeating New Prairie 6-1 behind goals from Daery O., Daniel A., Brylen V., Aaron G. and Jon P., along with a New Prairie own goal. Girls Soccer The Lady Rockies responded to a difficult start to the week with back-to-back victories. Plymouth defeated Glenn 2-0, with Alydiah Quint scoring both goals and Kenzie Ganshorn recording an assist. The Lady Rockies dominated the offensive opportunities with 48 shots, including 35 on goal, while goalkeeper Ella Muffley recorded four saves to preserve the shutout. Plymouth carried that momentum into NLC play against Mishawaka and earned a 5-1 victory. Kenzie Ganshorn scored twice and added an assist, while Quint, Carley Diaz and Cadence Kinney each scored. Plymouth generated 46 shots and 33 shots on goal in the victory. The Lady Rockies finished the stretch at 4-5-2 overall and 1-3 in the NLC. Boys Tennis The Plymouth Boys Tennis team faced a challenging stretch that included the Concord Tournament and dual matches with Mishawaka Marian, Culver Academies and Goshen. One of the week's highlights came in a 5-0 victory over Mishawaka Marian, with Plymouth sweeping all three singles positions and both doubles matches. The JV squad also gained valuable match experience at the Plymouth JV Tournament and in dual competition against Culver Academies and Goshen. Girls Golf The Lady Pilgrims put together two strong postseason performances. Plymouth placed fourth at the NLC Tournament with a team score of 395. Taylynn Johnson led Plymouth with a 79 to finish fifth individually, while Hanley Feldman shot a 90 and placed 11th. The Lady Pilgrims followed with another fourth-place finish at the IHSAA Sectional, shooting 415. Johnson fired an 80 to earn a spot in the IHSAA Regional. Johnson was also recognized as All-NLC, while Feldman earned Honorable Mention All-NLC recognition. Cross Country Plymouth Cross Country turned in several strong performances during a busy week. At the Tippecanoe Valley Invitational, both the girls and boys captured team championships. The girls scored 17 points, led by Brooklyn Scruggs, who won the race in 21:00. The boys finished with 47 points, with Nolan Carroll leading Plymouth in 17:32. The Rockies then competed in NLC Round 2. The girls placed third, led by Vivy Miller's second-place finish in 20:34, while Carroll again paced the boys with a 17:15 performance. Another Busy Week for Big Red With postseason competition beginning in some sports and conference races continuing in others, the fall season is entering an important stretch.
