JV Football - Rockies Lose Close Game to Mishawaka

By Brent Corbett | Sep 18, 2023 11:30 AM

The JV Rockies traveled to Steel Stadium on Saturday to take on the Mishawaka Cavemen and came out with a tough 6-12 defeat. The Cavemen came into the game 3-0 and 1-0 in the NLC while the Rockies are coming off their first win against Wawasee. The loss moved the Rockies recored to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the NLC. Mishawaka would be the first to score on a toss play but would miss the extra point. The Rockies would get on the board with a 5 yard touchdown run from quarterback Grady Metsker. Mishawaka would get a late score to take the halftime lead 6-12. Both defenses would get shut outs in the second half. The coaches were extremely proud of the way the team battled on both sides of the ball. Reese McGee ran the ball incredibly hard and the offensive line did a great job of creating a new line of scrimmage on every play. The Rockies never gave up and fought hard till the very last snap. Defensively the team played well and made some big stops at critical times in the game. The team had a lot of positives to build on moving forward and can learn from this loss to help get better for our upcoming opponents.
