PLYMOUTH, Ind. — Plymouth High School Athletics has officially announced the hiring of Geoff Scheetz as the next head coach of the Lady Pilgrims girls basketball program, pending approval from the Plymouth Community School Corporation Board of Trustees at its April 7 meeting. Scheetz, a familiar face within the Plymouth basketball community, brings more than a decade of coaching experience along with deep local roots. Most recently, he has spent the past two seasons as a varsity assistant coach for the Lady Pilgrims, giving him firsthand knowledge of the program he now takes over. “I am grateful for the opportunity to lead the Lady Pilgrims basketball program in this next chapter,” Scheetz said. “This program has a strong tradition of success that we are excited to build upon. We will be focusing on establishing a team culture centered around building strong relationships and great competitive spirit.” Scheetz’s coaching resume is both extensive and decorated. He previously spent 10 seasons on the Plymouth boys basketball staff, including five years as a varsity assistant, three as a junior varsity coach, and two at the freshman level. During that time, he was part of coaching staffs that led the Pilgrims to sectional championships in 2010 and 2013. In addition to his time at Plymouth, Scheetz spent five seasons as a varsity assistant at Culver Military Academy. There, he contributed to one of the most successful stretches in program history, highlighted by four sectional titles, two regional championships, two semi-state appearances, a state runner-up finish, and a 2018 state championship. A proud member of the Plymouth community, Scheetz is a 2005 Plymouth High School graduate. As a student-athlete, he was a three-year varsity basketball player under Hall of Fame coach Jack Edison and a member of the 2005 state runner-up team. He also competed in soccer and baseball during his high school career. Following graduation, Scheetz continued his basketball career at Huntington University from 2005 to 2009 while earning a degree in elementary education. He has been an educator within Plymouth Community Schools since 2010 and currently serves as a physical education teacher at Webster and Jefferson Elementary Schools. Plymouth Athletic Director Josh Troyer expressed strong confidence in the hire. “After an extensive search since early February, our committee is pleased to announce the hiring of Geoff Scheetz to lead our girls basketball program,” Troyer said. “Geoff is committed to being a great leader for the program and has shown great pride in Plymouth Athletics. We look forward to seeing how he helps our student-athletes grow both on and off the court.” Scheetz’s connection to Plymouth extends beyond the court. He is the son of Greg and Betty Scheetz and is the father of two children, Laci (11) and Griffyn (7). With a blend of experience, community ties, and a vision centered on culture and competitiveness, Scheetz now steps into a leadership role aiming to guide the Lady Pilgrims into their next era. WE ARE BIG RED.
