Boys Soccer - Rockies Travel To Rival Warsaw in NLC Action

By Brent Corbett | Aug 29, 2023 10:36 AM

The Rockies took on NLC rival Warsaw last night. The Jv team started things off facing a tough Tigers team that went into the game 6-0 while the Rockies were 4-1. The Tigers would strike first and take the 1-0 lead into halftime. The Tigers would then score 2 more goals in the second half and the final would be 3-0 Warsaw. Wyatt Houin and Jacob Aguilar both played goalie tonight and had 7 saves together. Even though the scoreboard isn't the result the Rockies wanted to have the fight in this team is what is more impressive. They kept trying and trying but just couldn't get the ball past the Tiger goalie. The varsity team followed the JV and even though the Rockies would fight tough they would fall as well to the Tigers with the final score being 7-0. It was a perfect night for soccer, and the atmosphere is always a post season feel when Warsaw and Plymouth get together. The Rockies were coming into the game trying to slow down the high scoring Tiger offense with leading scorer Van Puffelen and their assist leader Saldivar. Both goalkeepers for the Rockies mad some amazing saves and proved how great they could be. Unfortunately, the Tigers offense proved to be very dangerous with scoring within the first 6 minutes of the game. The Rockies will use this as motivation going into their next match with Goshen on Thursday. The Rockies are starting to get in the thick of their season with Goshen on Thursday and then hosting the Blueberry Tournament on Saturday. Come on out to the Plex and help cheer on our Rockies against a very tough Goshen Redhawks team. Jv will start things off at 6 PM.
