The JV Lady Pilgrims hosted their annual JV tournament last Saturday morning. The Lady Pilgrims came out hot and started the morning out with defeating the Rochester Zebras 25-18 & 25-11. The Pilgrims would then take on NLC opponent Mishawka in round 2 of pool play and would defeat them 2-1 with the scores being, 20-25 25-8 & 15-10. It was great to see the girls come back strong in the 2nd set after losing set 1 so tight. The Lady Pilgrims would get NLC rival Mishawaka in round 2 and would get beat in a close match 20-25 in set 1. The ladies though would respond and come back strong in set 2 winning 25-8 and then 15-10 in the final set. This set up a pool winner match with Elkhart with the winner playing in the championship. After playing 3 matches in the week already the Lady Pilgrims had to fight fatigue. The Lions from Elkhart came out strong in the first set winning 16-25 and then won 10-25 in set 2. The Pilgrims then would be taking on Northridge in the consolation match. Northridge would end up defeating the Lady Pilgrims in straight sets 15-25 & 24-25 for the Pilgrims to take 4th place in the JV invite. The girls played very hard and had strong serving and consistent play till they broke down in the final 2 matches. Emaline VanDuyne and Mia Hartley both showed great leadership throughout the whole tournament.
