Boys Soccer - Rockies Get Hat Trick in Big Home Win Over Slicers

By Brent Corbett | Aug 23, 2023 11:37 AM

Plymouth Rockies scored an impressive win against a physical LaPorte Slicer team tonight. Both teams came out slightly sluggish due to the heat and the high humidity. Plymouth had three goal scoring chances early in the first half but were unable to convert. LaPorte was awarded a PK early on and Senior goalkeeper Alan Cantero pulled off a fantastic save diving far to his left and pushing the ball out of bounds! The save energized the Rockies who opened the scoring just minutes after and added two more impressive strikes before the half. Plymouth went on the attack again in the second half hoping to add to their 3-0 halftime score and it was Junior Levi Hutchinson who took over the contest scoring his first hat trick as a Rockie! Two fine strikes and a well taken PK finished off Levi's impressive night. Young Sophomore Johan Rivera continued his goal scoring prowess adding an individual top ninety classic strike and also added an assist on the night. Senior midfielder Zahir Aguilar scored a fabulous goal assisted by sophomore Hector Rebollo. Zahir was in the running for man of the match as he locked down the midfield and shut down the LaPorte attack but Junior Levi Hutchinson took the honors with his three goals. Senior Juan Jiminez and Junior Uriel Rebollo also contributed assists on the night. Altogether this was a team victory as the defense shut out the Slicers and a clean sheet gives the Rockies a lot of confidence going into their first NLC contest against ranked rivals Warsaw on Thursday. All facets of the game were working for the Rockies and practices will be key to securing a win on Thursday. I am super proud of all our student athletes tonight who performed in difficult conditions with a heat index approaching triple digits!
