Freshman Football - Rockies Get Loss To Tippy Valley

The Freshman Rockies opened their season with a new opponent in Tippy Valley. After dealing with a weather delay before the game the Rockies were ready at kickoff to start off the season. Tippy Valley would strike first scoring on a 30 yard run in the 1st quarter. The Rockies offense would struggle to find its rhythm in the first half having a new system put in this summer. Valley would get another score right with 2:29 left in the half but after a Rockies turnover the Vikings would score again with 49 seconds left to take a 20-0 lead to the half. The Rockies defense would hold tough in the 3rd quarter while the offense was starting to find themselves. Valley would score with 30 seconds left in the quarter on a long run to make it 26-0. Thats when Zane Trevino would take the kickoff back for the Rockies first score of the year, breaking 3 tackles to take it to the house. The Rockies attempt for 2 was no good and now the score was 26-6. After a couple Rockie drives being stalled the Vikings offense struck again in the 4th, scoring 2 more times in the quarter. The Rockies offense starting to get their rhythm and would add a passing touchdown and a runnings score late in the 4th quarter. The final was Valley 38 Rockies 18. The Rockies will be back in action on Wednesday, August 30th when they travel to Columbia City to take on the Eagles. The Rockies were lead by Zane Trevino and Ben Shively on offense while the defense was led by Josh Gibbons and Owen Verhaeghe.
