By Brent Corbett | Aug 16, 2023 10:31 AM

The boys soccer team opened the season on the road with Marshall County rival Bremen on Monday night. After battling the weather at the start of the game the teams both battled through the first half with the score being 0-0. In the second half both teams seem to find their rhythm and started to really add pressure to the other's defense. Bremen would strike first in the second half scoring early. The Rockies though would respond with a goal by Diego Zelaya and then would add another goal later in the half by Juan Ramirez off the assist from Levi Hutchinson. The Rockies though still getting use to playing together with losing so many seniors last year gave up a goal late. The Rockies would end the game in a tie. Coach Masson was proud of how the team overcame the adversity of the weather and was very happy with the intensity and physicality that the team played with. Coach Masson also said, "We are still learning and growing as a team and will get better." The Rockies are home Monday, August 21st when the LaPorte Slicers come to Kindt Soccerplex. The JV Rockies played after the varsity for only 1 half and came out with a 5-0 win. Scoring for the Rockies were Uriel Rebollo, Brandon Caro off the assist from Alberto Vargas, Alberto Vargas off the assist from Uriel Rebollo, Erik Baca and Carlos Nieves. Come on out to the Soccerplex and cheer the Rockies on to victory at their home opener.
